LTS’s new facility gained 10,000 pallet locations through a fast-track VNA racking installation.

The Challenge

LTS secured a lease on a new 130,000 sq ft Prologis facility and required a high-capacity adjustable pallet racking installation to support new contract requirements. With a demanding delivery programme, the priority was to source and install a cost-effective storage system quickly, at scale and to the required specification.

The solution needed to maximise pallet storage capacity within the available warehouse footprint, while providing a clear pathway for future expansion. Balancing procurement lead times, capital expenditure and operational requirements was central to the project.

The Solution

As an independent racking distributor, we drew on our extensive network of manufacturers to compare system availability, lead times and pricing. This enabled us to secure a six-week racking supply lead time alongside highly competitive market pricing, supporting LTS’s programme and budget requirements.

The installation comprised an adjustable pallet racking (APR) system configured in a very narrow aisle (VNA) layout, with 2.2 m-wide aisles. This configuration reduced the floor area allocated to access aisles and increased storage density within the facility.

The initial installation provided 10,000 pallet locations. Future capacity was also incorporated into the planning, with provision to increase the total to 17,000 pallet locations in Phase 2. This phased approach aligned the initial investment with immediate contract demand while establishing a scalable storage strategy for the site.

The Outcome

LTS benefited from a fast, cost-effective racking installation that supported its new contract requirements and established substantial pallet storage capacity within the 130,000 sq ft facility.

The VNA configuration made efficient use of the available warehouse footprint, delivering 10,000 pallet locations in the initial phase. With provision for a further 7,000 locations in Phase 2 – a 70% increase in storage capacity – the facility has a defined route to accommodate higher stock volumes and future business growth.

By combining competitive procurement, a short supply lead time and a phased capacity plan, the project gave LTS a practical, scalable warehouse storage solution.
